From the TRT bit fitter:
The overall size of this bit (cannons and cheek piece) is smaller to accommodate the smaller head of a pony and not interfere with the bridle. The smaller cannons will accommodate the small pony mouth or a petite horse with not much room in its mouth due to a fleshy tongue and low palette.
The bevel cheek piece is a super helpful cheek on ponies or in young hands to be able to add a slightly more effective active rein using poll pressure without a curb strap. Curb straps are not used with bevel cheek pieces. With the rein in the bottom ring, the counter-clockwise rotation of the bore hole adds pole pressure. But without a curb strap, the fulcrum of the rotation is the mouthpiece itself and therefore no additional pressure is added inside the mouth except for the active rein pressure. The horse will often match the tongue line to the direction of the mouthpiece, therefore encouraging the tongue line on the vertical.
The trans-angled lozenge mouthpiece is a double-jointed mouthpiece designed with comfort in mind to lay flat along the tongue when in neutral. The size and angle of the lozenge mildly adds a pressure point in the center of the tongue. Overall, this bit will be helpful to anyone riding a pony and needing a little extra emergency brake, but is mild enough for uneducated hands. Ask us about how to trial this bit!
From the manufacturer:
Very popular in the show ring – Need more control than an ordinary snaffle?
The NS Tranz Beval is often sourced for ponies that are strung out or poke their nose. Especially useful for the child or novice rider who does not possess either the technique or strength in the leg to achieve and maintain a correct round outline.
Also helps with turning and downwards transitions. Popular in the show ring. All of the pony cheeks are scaled down in proportion with the neat pony mouthpieces.
